Arthritis or : Snapping hip syndrome (also referred to as coxa saltans, iliopsoas tendinitis, or dancer's hip) is a medical condition characterized by a snapping sensation felt when the hip is flexed and extended. This may be accompanied by an audible snapping or popping noise and pain or discomfort. Pain often decreases with rest and diminished activity.

Cracking: First , there is no such thing as double jointed.  Flexible , yes.  Double jointed , no.  If your hip cracks when you walk you may be slightly disarticulating the joint or the tendon(s) in the area are slipping in and out of  a groove.  Either way, seeing your orthopedist will dispel more myths and help get you the answers you need.  And try spelling better - it helps .   Good luck.

Cracking joints: Hard to say! it's been many years since i did sports medicine. A crass rule of thumb i told my troops was: "if it hurts, it may be a problem. If it doesn't, ignore it!" i'm less crass today, so i'd recommend seeing a doctor skilled in joints, such as an orthopedic surgeon, rheumatologist, sports medicine doctor, or internist/family practitioner with special interest in joints.

Hips and knees pop: Usually popping and cracking of joints without pain is not serius but if it concerns you, you can be seen and get a-rays. It may be early arthritis.

Positioning: This is probably related to putting yourself into positions you are not used to.  Try more comfortable positions...Lying on your side, perhaps on top, or "doggie".  These may not cause you to stretch you his as much.  Then begin a flexibility program to slowly get to positions you prefer.

2subluxation  rarely is associated with snapping
3iliotibial bond syndrome
4iliopsoas tendon snap
5 hip labral tear
consult an orthopedic specialist if you need any treatment or it.

Yes, if necessary. -: They heal well except taking a longer time. In the elderly with hip fractures, who almost always have osteoporosis, surgically fixed hips do quite well.

Si joint pain: Get evaluated. Functional muscle screen too. A good sports pt can help. Tight psoas can cause pain here as well as others.

Snap or crack?: If your hips are fractured that is definitely not normal and you should see a doctor. If your hips just make snapping noises that's very common and is often caused by tight muscles stepping over the hip bones. Sometimes a snap from the inside indicates a torn labrum.
