See below: Normal hair.Loss is aboit 50-100 strands per day. If you are experiencing more than this average number or you notice thinned spots, pls see your doctor. Certain tests can be done to see possible cause like thyroid problems, iron levels, to name a few.

Multifactorial : Thanks for your question!  This is one of the most common questions I see in clinical practice.  Essentially it could be iron deficiency, thyroid issues, or androgenetic alopecia.  There may be other more rare causes too.  In short, I would go to your doc and get some iron and thyroid checked!

See doctor: You may have a problem with your thyroid gland, or be deficient in b vitamins, esp biotin. Magnesium deficiency and zinc deficiency can also cause hair loss. If you have patchy hair loss, see dermatologist.

Alopecia?: There is a condition called alopecia which causes the hair to fall out.  This is different from male pattern baldness which is genetic and not a disorder.  A dermatologist can tell you if you have alopecia (an autoimmune disorder) and treat it w/medication.  Peace and good health.

Falling or thinning : Nutritiona deficiency, hypothyroidism using harsh shampoos or hair car products are some common cause. Also, some mediciations can make you lose hair. Any stressors can make u lose hair. Removing or treating the cause is the best answer. Hard water cna make you loose hair as well. Biotin whcih is availabel over the counter soemtiems helps. Talk to your doctor though for finding the root cause.

Needs to be checked: A check of thyroid function is in order. A physician can diagnose alopecia areata (not really treatable) and telogen effluvium (look for underlying cause). Some folks pull their hair compulsively and this is only semi-treatable. If she's having normal periods it's not male pattern baldness. If there's a fungus infection, it's easy to treat.

Depends.: If you mean temporary hair loss due to a medicine or stress or weight loss, it will usually grow back on its own. If you mean hereditary baldness, your only current options are a hair transplant or a hairpiece. As my father used to say, he who loses his hair early in life will have toupee for it. (rimshot, please...).
