Constipation: You can give 3 tsps of mineral oil at bedtime, lots of water, 4 ozs of prune juice. 
Also, you can give Miralax 1 tsp in 8 ops of water at bedtime. Less milk and starches in the diet:
rice, noodles, puddings.

Increase fluids: Most important to intermittent constipation is to make sure the child is getting plenty of fluids. At 10 months, can add a few ounces of water to daily formula intake, and if stools are harder than normal, a few ounces of juice can be added from a cup as well. Don't get into habit of juice from a bottle. Add extra fiber into diet. If persists, talk to doc about what meds may help, like miralax (polyethylene glycol).

Evaluation/Rx: The natural loseners in apple or prune juice can often loosen a kid some but it takes several days.Avoiding rice cereal, bananas, apple sauce & other foods that firm stools is also helpful. Your doc may need to eval the kid for stool retention issues & may recommend stool wetting agents like MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) used for an extended period.

CONSTIPATION: If breastfeeding, continue, give more water, increase fiber in the diet like more vegetable, oatmeal cereal, prune juice 3 ounces x2/.
If formula fed, may try whey protein containing one e.g. Garber good start; this will increase the bulk of stool, make stool mooshy.
If doesn't help, give MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) 1 teaspoonful twice daily mixed with 6-8 ounces of formula, then may continue once daily as needed.

Diet and water: Try to give her plenty of water, fruits and veggies. Prune juice and oatmeal can also help. If she develops abdominal pain and looks sick please take her to her Pediatric provider.

What have you tried?: Unless she seems sick to you, try increasing her fluid intake a little. Fruits such as peaches, plums, prunes, or apricots tend to be good to help get that little bowel moving. Talk to the nurse in your doctor's office. Your local children's hospital may have a nurses' helpline to assist with non-urgent advice. And certainly, get in sooner if her belly is painful, swollen, or she seems sick to you.

Could be: Simethicone drops can cause either diarrhea or constipation. However, breastfed exclusively babies also can have less frequent stools going up to 2 weeks without having a bowel movement.

what makes your poop black? my daughter called me this morning said my 18 month old grandson has a little bit of red blood in his poo and the poo is soft & black, he does not have a fever but has had diahareah on and off over the last couple days

Sometimes : Sometimes medications can make feces black.  If the stool is black, tarry and stinks, that could be due to blood in his gastrointestinal tract. It sounds like there is also some bright red blood. Please have her call her pediatrician now.  The pediatrician may be able to see your grandson quickly, or might direct that he be seen at the emergency room.

i gave my daughter half a glycerin suppository she is 7 months old i haven't seen much poop yet should i give her another half ?

Once a day: Don't give glycerin more than daily for constipation, but if your 7 mo old is constipated, you need to go to the doctor and find out what the problem is, maybe adjust the diet a bit. Go talk to your pediatrician, will do some good !!
