No definite answer: This means it is not clear whether you have either.  Get tested again.  Do not have intercourse if you are having any symptoms (discharge, pain, burning with urination).  Use protection from now on after this is squared away, and save yourself a lot of grief.  There are worse and permanent nasty diseases to get besides these two diseases, too.  Be safe!

Yes: There is a chance of a false negative result. Approximately 3% of the time a test will miss chlamydia. If your partner has it, you should be treated.

: Positive chlamydia test is not from yeast, nor have to do with clue cells, you know clue cells are associated with BV. A positive chlamydia test most likely means you were infected with chlamydia and should be treated, however more importantly protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases in the future. It is important that your partner also get treated.

May need further tx: On occasion the 4 tab Azithromycin treatment doesn't work and you need further treatment. You should call your doctor to discuss alternative med such as doxycycline.  Also you may need recheck because not all discharge is due to the sti's.   Also make sure your partner is treated or you will get reinfected.

A day or so: The test can be done the same day the specimen is submitted, however, the lab may not do the test every day, in which case it would depend on how often the lab runs the test.

Wishful thinking: The tests used look for the detection of chlamydia DNA. You can't get more definitive than that. It is not a suggestion or guess, it validates that the germ is there as much as a DNA tests  used to prove a person was a parent in a paternity case.

Less than 2 days: The modern chlamydia tests include rapid tests that can give a result after a few minutes. Chlamydia cultures take several days. If the rapid test is done at a lab, the time for the sample to be processed, the test to be run, the results to be sent to the doctor, and for the doctor to find time to review the result... Takes up to a couple of days.

Unlikely: The actual frequency of false positives and false negatives varies with the type of test, but in general, false negative Chlamydia test results are more common than false positives. I would believe your "positive" and treat it. If you two are sexually active, I would treat him, too, since his test may be false negative.

i was diagnosed w/ chlamydia on 9/29/2015. treated the same day. tested on 11/16/2015, came back positive. i haven't had sex since the 1st test. how?

Chlamydia: If Chlamydia trachomatis is again detected on repeat testing, it should be treated with azithromycin as long as there is no contraindication to doing so.

Persistence or recurrence of symptoms should not be attributed to Chlamydia trachomatis drug resistance; drug resistance to azithromycin or doxycycline has not been demonstrated to date.
