Usually OK: Most babies spit up food.  As long as your babies are gaining weight well, there is usually nothing to worry about.  Spitting up will gradually get better with age.

my infant is starting to spit up during feelings. do i continue to feed him and how can i help prevent him spitting up?

Feedings and spittin: Hard answer without knowing your infant's age.   But are you "burping" your baby after feedings.  Babies take in alot of air using bottles and nipples  - burping them will reduce the air bubble.   Sometimes spitting up is due to formula issues -  changing to a non cow's milk formula may help.   Gaviscon drops may also help.   If the spitting is getting worse - dicuss this with your doctor.

Reflux: Reflux is a common occurrence in children.  We call the baby who spits up and is growing well and happy to be the "happy spitter".  40% of infants will spit up at least twice daily.  A very common cause that can be causing more spitting up is over-feeding.  Discuss with your pediatrician the correct amout of feeds for the baby's age.

REFLUX...: MANY INFANTS DU DEVELOP SPITTING UP SOME WITHOUT PROBLEMS SOME WITH IRRITATION SECONDARY TO GASTRIC JUICES ACIDITY WHICH WHEN TOUCHING THE ESOPHAGUS IT CAN IRRITATE IT AND SOMETIMES SOME BLEEDING CAN OCCUR. YOUR BABY SHOULD BE SEEN BY HIS/HER PEDIATRICIAN IF THE PROBLEM CONTINUES OR HE/SHE ACTS IN PAIN

is it true 4 month olds start to spit up a lot again? 
my baby seems to be spitting up more. she isnt in any type of discomfort. should i be worried?

Basics: The peaking frequency  of spit ups around 4 mo has more to do with their mobility/muscle tone than anything. Newborns have flabby belly muscles that firm as they get older. Once they begin sitting up gravity helps them keep the food down better.

Please see baby's Dr: It's possible that it could be from your diet, but if you haven't changed your diet before your baby's symptoms started, that's less likely.  Please see  your baby's Dr. for evaluation and diagnosis -- once you know what the problem is, the Dr. can tell you what will help/

why has my 4 month old all of a sudden started spitting up so much? my four month old daughter has always spit up alittle, nothing out of the ordinary.  recently though, she has been spitting up a lot more that usual for her.  she still has a good appetit

The : The most important thing to know is what her diet consists of. Is she formula fed, breastfed, or both? Have you recently changed formula? Have you recently started baby cereal? If so, what kind? All of these things are important factors in determining why she is spitting up more. 
If she is exclusively breastfed, then maybe something in your diet is not agreeing with her. I always start by telling my patients to cut out spicy foods, followed by dairy to see if this helps alleviate the baby's symptoms. 
If you recently changed formula (different brand or type) this could be the cause. 
Also positioning after feeding could be an issue, don't lay her down right after a feeding. Digestion chairs are a good option.
If you started baby cereal already, it should be rice, and should be diluted with a lot of breast milk or formula. If not it's probably better to wait until the baby is 5-6 months old.
In addition more serious issues can cause an increase in spit up, like reflux problems, and in severe cases anatomical abnormalities of the digestive tract/stomach.
If the problem persists i suggest you have the baby evaluated by her primary care provider.

i switched my baby's formula from soy milk to elecare. she has not had a bowel movement in a day. is this normal? she also has been spitting up more

Constipation: Soy formulas are usually more constipating that others, but the opposite can be true as well!  The only way to figure out which formula is best for a baby's digestive tendencies is by experience.  It can take up to two weeks after a formula change for the results to be known, so rapid formula changes is best avoided. A common trial sequence is:  cows milk based, lactose-free, soy, elemental.

my 6 month old baby spits up/vomits after each meal.  sometimes its just a little spitting up, other times its a lot more like vomiting several times.  he appears happy and his doctor says he's healthy.  why do you think he vomits so often?

Reflux: Most likely in an otherwise normal infant  he just has normal reflux or being over fed. Less commonly and usually with reflux an hour or so after eating it could indicate food allergy.

scratchy dry painful throat, spitting up thick green/brown mucus. throat sticks together when swallowing, more tired than usual? thank you.

More details: It is hard to tell whether you are getting a viral or bacterial infection although I would favor viral if the symptoms have not been present for &gt;10 days.  See doctor if the symptoms are unbearable.
