Not for babies&lt;1 yo: Cold milk is a safe beverage for most above 1 years old.Infants under 1 yo should ideally get human breast milk: cow milk infant formulas and other infant formulas are an okay substitute. Check in with your pediatrician if you have other nutrition questions.

When they ask for it: Breast milk or formula are balanced nutrition that provides the proper balance of fluids to nutrients for infants. Water supplements are not necessary. It can be offered, but excess water just means more wet diapers. I find letting grandma or friends offer an ounce or two occasionally lets them participate in infant nurturing, which is socially a good idea. But it is not necessary.

Basic rule : If an infant is wetting at least every 6 hours and willing to drink/feed/play the output is fine.

See below: Pedialyte is only recommended for a child with vomiting and diarrhea. Discuss the addition of water with your child's provider. There is usually no indication to give just plain water.

No.: Babies who are propped up while feeding shouldn't get milk into the ears (gravity will pull the milk down).  I would venture to say that most babies are fed at least partially propped up and do just fine!
