Accepted Answer

Yes it is: The swelling will subside.  However if you are seeing any increased redness or pus, take you child back to the er.

is it normal to spot a gray hair in my two year old's head?? i am worried.

Wait and watch: Having a grey hair in 2 years old  is not normal ,wait and watch if any  more grey hair come up .At present  just watch .It may happen if there family history of grey hairs at an early age even in small children .

Mgt: There are several possible causes. I would suggest  discussing a Dermatology appointment with your PCP. He should wear a cap during peak sun exposure hours.

Loss of conscious ?: Any 2yo that is not  knocked out by a fall can usually be monitored at  home. It is common to get a bump, vomit x1, & get a headache. Let him nap/sleep on a normal schedule and check him with a flashlight during sleep.If the kid  lost consciousness, vomits in his sleep or vomits  repeatedly, you need to take him in.

Yes &amp; no: The head of an infant is relatively large to the other body parts, gradually reducing in relative size until adulthood. At 2 yrs of age the head is one of the largest surfaces where a child exchanges heat with the environment, It is also generally uncovered allowing this exchange to occur. It can be a normal vent or an early symptom of illness. If the kid is otherwise thriving I ignore it.

Not unusual: Skin blood flow is very variable in small children. While as adults we vary our blood flow much more through changes in heart rate and blood pressure, kids still use their very "flexible" blood vessels to do this. So when they are crying and emotional, they can shunt the blood flow to their skin surface very easily by dilating their blood vessels, and thus the red face. Totally normal!

Dry nose: It may be secondary to a viral cold or a dry nose. Use a saline nasal spray or gel to ease it. If it continues, see your doctor, especially if the discharge is in one nostil, she may have gotten something stuck in her nose.

Needs an examination: It's alway a good idea to have a young child of 2 years old evaluated for a fever even though she's ok during the day. While it's likely to be a temporary viral source of fever, 2 year olds are prone to ear infections(otitis media) and urinary tract infections....especially if the fever is 39C (102.2F) or greater rectally.

2 year old head falling to side, cannot stand or sit now. symptoms started yesterday she just moved to california, 2 weeks ago. very vibrent and talking two year old, she is my grand niece

Anytime : Anytime a child who can sit, stand, walk and talk stops being able to do these things, they need to be seen emergently.  These could be signs of a serious problem with the brain such as bleeding, infection, stroke or tumor.  You should call your child's doctor if she has one yet in california.  If she does not, then she need to go to the emergency department.
