Yes: The flu shot has activity against the predicted most likely flu types thought to be present for the year in which the shot is given. But you can get other types or a mild form of the common type. Unless you are very sick, you can probably take off from work, rest, and take the usual anti-cold therapies over the counter.

Not for most: when you have what you describe it is usually because you have a sensitivity to something in the vaccine. I would check if the form of the vaccine you took had Latex and or preservative in it. Allergy to eggs could cause this. If just mild inflammation and sore muscle is not unusual. If not allergic to Aleve (naproxen) or the like take this plus cold compresses at the site. Infection is unlikely but possible

Probably not: You may have simply slept on your arm wrong or hit it sometime throughout the night or earlier. I would recommend seeing a doctor if you truly feel like this is at all a possible sign of a heart attack.

Infection: Could be an infection,if your body temperature raises above 103 you should consult your doctor as soon as possible,if not take brufen for the pain,to me it sounds an infection, another question I have,do you have any pain in ears? Or you feel the pressure is unbalanced?

Common : It is common to have some muscle soreness after a flu vaccine. It is not serious and usually resolves in a day or so. You may take some Ibuprofen for pain if you wish. Contrary to common belief, you can not get the flu from the flu shot- it's a killed vaccine.

Local Reaction: Yes you can have a local reaction at the site of flu shot, and cause littlr redness, swelling and pain.But it is self limiting and goes away by itself in couple of days and does not happen to everybody.
