i am 18 year female  with an extra lumbarrib on the right side of my stomach,after exercises i feel slight pain while touching rib or muscle under it?

Ouch!: If you look at an artists drawing of the ribs, you will see alot of connective tissue, especially in the area you are mentioning. This tissue can get inflamed. In my practice I use heat and a good anti-inflammatory cream. Ocassionally I will need to do trigger point injections to take away the pain and inflammation. If this does not help, let me know and I will pass on some other treatments!

what causes a knot or a rolling muscle to form in your stomach by your rib cage. it hurts like a sharp pain or a charlie horse feeling in stomach?

Accepted Answer

Spasm or cramp: Similar to muscle spasms in the back or elsewhere in the body--over use or over stretching can cause local injury to the muscle tissue and spasm. Often improves with gentle massage and/or local warm compresses to relax the muscle band.

told i have a hiatalhernia if i use my stomach muscles situps or from leaning back or sitting up on couch, bending get severe cramping pain rt rib why?

Accepted Answer

Hiatal hernia: Hiatal hernia should not be associated with your current symptoms . It is usually related to reflux symptoms. You may have an abdominal wall hernia? See your doctor.

can a strained muscle in my back on right side below ribs on back cause stomach discomfort also i know it's a muscle it pulls when i move or stretch?

Accepted Answer

Doubtful: It would be unlikely for the strained back muscle to cause stomach discomfort.  It would be more likely that you sprained an abdominal muscle at the time of the back injury.

my stomach is harder on the left side under my ribs than on the right. if i strech my muscles it's the same, but without stretching it's different. i sometimes feel a discomfort on this side, a doctor said it's likely ibs.is the difference a problem?

: It is not feasible to provide an opinion without additional history, physical examination may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor to see if you may be depressed. Depression is treatable. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated. Drink more water. Wish you good health!

for the last few weeks i've had muscle twitching in my left thigh under my butt and stomach under my right rib cage. im not sure why, any suggestions?

See your doctor: In the absence of other symptoms, these  are likely benign "fasciculations". Causes include dehydration, recent overexertion, abnormal electrolyte levels such as sodium, potassium, or calcium levels, increased stress levels/caffeine intake, etc. If the twitching is frequent, affects different muscles every time, or is associated with other symptoms like muscle cramps or weakness, see your doctor.

i get muscle spasm with a burning throbbing pain under left rib.also serious  stomach  bloating?

Is it on going?: Stomach bloating you may mean abdominal bloating how long has it been? what time of the day or are they related to meals?Does having BM help the symptoms?Any kind of testings been done?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: If it's just been a couple times and an isolated symptom, then don't worry about it.  It may be something as simple as having some gas which caused a reactionary cramp.  However, if your symptoms persist or worsen or are associated with other symptoms such as GI symptoms, then do go see a physician.

i was throwing up a lot two days ago stomach bug. is it possible to pull muscles  in the stomach and upper rib cage area? i'm very sore.

Accepted Answer

Yes: especially if vomiting was severe and frequent.  Should be better soon if vomiting has stopped.  You could apply warm compresses or sit in warm tub.  Good luck!

hi doc!so i had stomach aches and vomitings couple of days ago for which i consulted an online doctor and she gave me the medications and the stomach ache was gone but there was kind of muscle pain in the rib area which is still going on...plz help?

Accepted Answer

Pain: If you had significant vomiting - it could put strain on muscles.  That may not resolve right away. Acetaminophen might help with pain. This is just a thought - not a diagnosis or definitive cause.
