Irregular bleeding: This is may be normal but you should take a pregnancy test if it is even a remote possibility. Wait and see what happens. You may need to get examined by your GP to evaluate for the cause of the discharge.

Expectations: If getting a BCP prescription was to regulate your cycle, you shouldn't be surprised at the lack of regulation on your cycle when you stop. You can use mini pills for less side effects, but you need to discuss all of this with your OB

Hormones: It sounds as if there is some hormone imbalance in your cycle likely if it went on for 11 days.  Mucous is normally produced in the cervix and vagina, so that's not necessarily a sign of anything worrisome.  You may want to see your gynecologist for an exam and a thorough menstrual history just to be safe.

Unsure: from your information, it it not possible to tell if you are menopausal.  The average age of menopause in the USA is 51-52.

Possible...: Pregnancy is a possibility especially if her periods have been regular before and now experiencing these new symptoms. She should get a pregnancy test first and foremost, if negative then she should follow her periods and see how they occur next time. If abnormal should see a gynecologist for diagnosis and treatment.

Stop smoking: First, stop smoking. Most people succeed at this by gradually cutting down then stopping completely. If you are concerned about pregnancy (it's possible) then get a home pregnancy test, which usually is positive by the 1st day of a missed period.
