Mono is a viral: illness, causing sore throat, swollen lymph nodes (glands) in the neck area and fatigue. It is caused by the Epstein Barr Virus. It can also cause some inflammation of the liver and spleen. I'm not sure what medication you were switched from, so can't answer the second part of your question. Drink water: Drink plenty of water and eat a meal. You are unlikely to get serotonin syndrome after one dose of mucinex DM but you do need to avoid dextromethorphan if you are taking the zoloft. If you develop a fever, muscle pains or other symptoms see a doctor right away.

Ask pharmacist or Dr: This is very troubling indeed. And everything I've read supports what you found. Don't risk a potentially life-threatening interaction but do try to find an alternative to Lexapro (escitalopram) w/ your doctor. It's not the guaifenesin part, so you could take Mucinex pills and gargle w/ salt water for throat pain and drink honey-lemon-tea-(bit of bourbon). Sorry, but you actually may find this to work better!
