Not very: As long as you are on antibiotics and wash your hands after irrigations, those around you should be safe.  Stay away from newborns, extremely aged, and those with impaired immune systems (chronically ill or cancer patients) just to be safe.

Colonization: Many of us have staph, and some have mrsa, present in our nose, groin and skin without any invasion of tissue or infection. Colonization does not have any symptoms but the carrier can transmit infection to others. See this site for more information.

There is difference: Most people do not transmit sinus infections; most clinicians agree that except for rare instances, sinus infections are not contagious expect in rare cases.
A person infected with a cold virus may be contagious for two to three days before any symptoms appear and remain so until he or she doesn't show any symptoms. This is a period of up to two weeks or so.

However, the sinusitis may not be contagious, meaning not all who catch the virus actually get sinusitis.

Sinus infection: The sinus infection is not necessarily contagious as a sinus infection BUT the bacteria or virus that causes it can be transmitted to the baby. To treat congestion in a young infant: elevate the head of the crib where the baby sleeps or use the car seat, saline nasal drops followed by suctioning, extra pedialyte to liquefy the mucous. Depends: Most "sinus infections" are actually viral upper respiratory infections that require time to heal.  Acute bacterial sinusitis can be cured spontaneously but a doctor's diagnosis and antibiotics will hasten the cure.

Can what mean you: Have a sinus infection. Symptoms from sinusitis may include: headache and tenderness / pain near forehead, eyes, cheeks or nose. There may be yellow/ green discharge nasal discharge.  Fever, fatigue, earache ; nasal congestion are common.
