what to do if i get motion sickness that causes diarrhea. any suggestions on what to take for this?

Ginger: You should be able to reduce your GI upset with ginger. You can drink slightly flattened ginger ale or nibble on crystallized ginger.  Or pour boiling water over freshly sliced organic ginger & steep at least 5 min in a covered pot. Sip.

Vagus nerve: Some people do develop diarrhea with their motion sickness. The vagus nerve becomes stimulated and activates your intestinal motility.

Ginger: This is not an official medical recommendation because it hasn't been scientifically proven but one common folk remedy is to consume very small quantities of ginger - either extract or the raw root. It settles the stomach. You may still feel dizzy though.

can i take a motion sickness pill and later still go skiing?

Accepted Answer

Possibly: Most motion sickness medications can cause sedation.  You should not try to ski or do other high-gain activities until you know how it will affect you.  Most people will do fine on it, but you should try it out before you do that.

Bonine: Bonine / Meclizine helps.  Try ginger.  Fresh ginger (chewed, don't have to swallow pulp!) or extract helps many people.

Category B drug: Meclazine is one of the antihistamines used to treat or pre-treat motion sickness. It is considered safe during pregnancy and caries one of the higher safety ratings.

after a few games of ping pong i feel borderline motion sickness.  why? (its not due to the exercise. i do way harder exercises with no vertigo)

Time for counseling: Your child would benefit from counseling to get over his fears.

i was on a short flight wearing a kn95 mask. during landing, the man one seat away from me became sick i believe into the air sickness bag. is it likely i caught something contagious from him? or more likely motion sickness?

: You were wearing an N95 mask which would be very protective to start with. Also, planes have such good airfiltering systems that contamination from another passenger on the flight is so much less than sitting beside someone in the airport. When someone vomits, the little particles spray and so contamination of your hand and clothes can happen. Good washing of your hand before you eat was needed.

why doesn't a driver get motion sickness?

In more control: The driver of the car is generally less likely to have motion sickness because he not only has accurate sensory information from his senses (ears, eyes, touch) but also is controlling the car and can therefore anticipate accelerations, decelerations, and turns.  This position enables him to calibrate his expectations of movement with the car's actual movement.
