Swelling: Either an allergy with puffiness, or swelling from excess fluid in your system which only accumulates under the eyes after lying flat all night. It then resolves after you are seated or standing in the morning, and the fluid shifts to a more dependent area. If you sleep with your head more elevated, rather than flat, you may find this to be less of a problem.

You dont really: This crusting generally comes from tears that pool while sleeping.  The tears accumulate more in a closed eye (and in babies drain less easily) and dry out and crust.  This is common in babies and is technically not a problem.  Wipe the crust with a warm washcloth in the morning and this will improve as the child ages.

Eye drops: The most common early morning eye problem is due to overnight dryness.  I am assuming that your vision clears quickly and you are comfortable most of the day and evening.  If so, you can put a gel drop like theragel into your eyes at bedtime and this will coat and protect the eye and help in the morning.  If the vision is bad or there is redness/pain, see your ophthalmologist.

Normal or infection: All night long, our closed eyes provide a warm, dark, moist environment for bacteria to grow, and there can be a constant battle between these bacteria and our natural defenses. The "goop" you see is the product of that all-night battle, and some people tend to get more goop than others. There are some conditions, like blepharitis (eyelid inflammation) that tend to produce more of this discharge.

Dry eye in morning: Dry eyes in the morning can be dye to many issues such as dry eye, blepharitis, lagophthalmos (partial eye closure during sleep), etc.  Try using artificial tears during the day, ointment at night, warm compresses frequently, and omega-3 fatty acid supplements.  If persistent symptoms, you should see your eye doctor to consider punctal plugs or other prescription topical meds.
