: Have your gastroenterologist speak with &amp; collaborate with your potential OB about this to get an OK. There's no evidence that that medication would harm the baby, but if you can get by without it, it might be advisable to do so. On the other hand, your 2 MD's want no problems with IBD during your pregnancy as they want you in good shape throughout your pregnancy.

Meselamine/5-ASA: Apriso is a long-acting form of 5-aminosalicylic acid (mesalamine) which are well-established preparations used in the management of inflammatory bowel disease. These drugs are most useful for the treatment of mild to moderate flares of ulcerative colitis and, especially, for maintenance of remission.  The mechanisms are complex, but involve anti-inflammatory and prevents oxidative damage.

Normal diet: Inflammatory bowel disease is an autoimmune disorder.  While we do not know the cause it can present in many different ways.  One way is to attack the gut, which is a large source of immune responses.  A sensible normal diet is important for anyone.  Take your medications regularly, avoid stress, and exercise.

Good question: Stress involved but not causative. Not sticking to meds is a big cause. Crohn's patients must not smoke-definite cause of flates. Nsaid type drugs, e.g. Advil/nuprin (ibuprofen), naproxyn (aleve), even Aspirin can cause flares. Other (unknown) factors. Associated with high fat, especially land fat (omega 6) intake, less so with lower fat and marine fat (omega 3).

Yes: Women who have inflammatory bowel disease, such as ulcerative colitis or chron's disease can have babies.  Some may have worsening of their symptoms during pregnancy, some may not.  Proper absorption of nutrients and adequate weight gain are important in these individuals.

Visualization: Inflammatory bowel disease includes crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis.  Colonoscopy can help determine the extent and severity of colitis, assist in guiding treatment, and provide tissue to assist in the diagnosis. In skilled hands, the colonoscope can frequently reach the terminal ileum and permit assessment of inflammation to assist in the diagnosis or exclusion of crohn disease.

Probably don't: Ibd - is either inflammatory bowel disease - ulcerative colitis or crohn's disease - both serious diseases of the large intestine which present with pain and bloody diarrhea.Both need care from a specialist.

Ibd may be irritable bowel disease - which is gas, cramps and difficulty establishing a regular bowel pattern. Also see a doctor.
