It's an opiate: Oxycodone is a semi-synthetic opiate derived from codeine.  It is far more potent (5 mg of oxycodone = 30-60 mg of codeine) because it is better absorbed and isn't extensively metabolized in the liver.  It also has far fewer side effects, especially histamine release, than does Codeine or morphine, and it hits the brain very fast.  It therefore has very high abuse potential, similar to heroin.

Mirtazepine: Mirtazepine (remeron) is a  noradrenergic/specific serotonergic antidepressant [nassa].  It is used for major depressive d/o, various anxiety disorders, chronic pain, and others.  In some, it can help ssri-induced sexual dysfunction & "poop out."  it can be sedating and also increase appetite -- good for some people, not for others.

0: Usually the maximum dose is 45 mg, however in the elderly we start low and go slow. We start at as low as 7.5 mg and go upto 15 or 30 mg depending upon what it is being prescribed for.
