Save your money: Biotin does nothing.Notice also that it is already in your food. Useful for male androgenetic hair thinning are minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride.

Yes: Rogaine (minoxidil) is an anti-andrigen agent while biotin is a vitamin.  Different methods of action and affect.  Biotin supplements what may be a deficiency in the diet allowing for a stronger hair follicle.  The rogaine (minoxidil) inhibits the negative effects of testosterone on the hair follicle.

Biotin : There is a lack of strong evidence for the efficacy of biotin for hair loss. Perhaps it works in some cases but it is not strongly scientifically proven.

Somewhat: I prefer rogain foam not solution, 90% of my patients experience burning with the solution but not the foam. Biotin supplements work better for nails, they make hair shaft stronger but the supplement doesn't increase hair growth. Its a common misconception.

Hair grows in cycles: Hair grows in a cycle.  There is nothing you can apply now that will maintain efficacy several cycles from now.  I am a fan of biotin, and always use it as an adjunct to treatment for thinning hair.  I typically recommend a dose of 3000 mcg per day to see benefit in hair growth. Often fails: Biotin isn't going to help. If you have alopecia areata, nothing will help. This is probably too long for telogen effluvium. Especially if you're naturally blessed with a lot of great body hair and a thick beard, rogaine may not slow male pattern baldness. Shave your head, grow some great facial hair, hit the gym, and embrace your full masculinity. Nothing looks better than a buffed, balding man.
