: Probably not.   Food-protein induced proctocolitis, presenting  in the few months of life as blood streaked stools, in otherwise healthy infants.  About  60% of cases occur among breast-fed infants, with remainder largely among infants fed cow's milk.

baby is 6 weeks old and was started on nutramigen due to blood in stool secondary to suspected milk protein allergy since one week. there is still some blood and mucus at times. the poop is also grey once and baby also lost few ounces. help?

: Please discuss stool and liver function testing with your Pediatrician.A CF screening test is recommended. Infections may also cause blood and mucus in the stool. The loss of weight is concerned since babies should gain weight each day. Ensure that the baby is feeding every 3 to 4 hours.
Watch for signs of fever and vomiting.

Trial: Stop taking the supplement for few days, do everything else the same, diet, other therapy, etc. if the unusual color disappears you got your answer. If the color stays, it is not likely that what you see is due to milk thistle. Orange will be highly unusual for blood to turn into, as blood turns darker most of the time. Hope it helps.

i had a colonoscopy done last year, got proctitis. i believe ive gotten it again for the third time, however i sometimes still have bloody stools. what should i do? ive been taking salofalk rectal suspension 4g (60g) and its worked great before?

: You should see your GI doctor again to find out the best treatment at this time. It is possible you need a different treatment if the proctitis keeps coming back. Perhaps it can be controlled better with a different medication so that it does not keep returning. So, see your GI doctor. Good luck!

Depends: Blood in the stool occurs from bleeding in the lower colonic tract and the rectum.  It can result from blood vessel leakage, hemorrhoids, disease like ulcerative colitis, or anal fissures and trauma (from anal sex for instance).  If persistent, it needs evaluation by your gastroenterologist.

See your doctor...: Bloody stools are potentially a sign of significant lower GI pathology.  Possible causes include hemorrhoids, anal fissures, colitis, and benign and malignant growths in the rectum and colon.  See a gastroenterologist for a work-up asap.  Good luck!

Bloody stools: In 11 months old more commonly due to constipation. Some have anal fissures . If grose blood with abdominal distention, tenderness, fever , irritability, not eating  or poor appetite, you need to take your baby to the emergency room or  his pediatrician to rule out any surgical abdomen/ obstruction!
