These are just symptoms of a disorder & several different disease processes can cause this, with diabetes a common & important one. Diabetes is diagnosed by testing blood sugar levels. Other more rare causes are diabetes insipidus & psychogenic polydipsia.

Nocturia: Getting up at night to urinate is termed nocturia.  If you have episodic nocturia that only occurs once every couple of weeks, it may be related to what and how much you are drinking prior to bedtime.  Anything with alcohol or caffeine can cause you to void more.  In addition, a large amount of fluid can do this.  If bothersome, talk to your doctor who might want to get some blood/urine tests.
