hi, i'm on microgynon 30, contraceptive pill. i normally take 1 at 11:30am everyday. but i missed it today and took it at 8:30pm. is this bad? help

Contraception: you are being very cautious and responsible.  Your risk of pregnancy is less than 1% .   The only the only thing that would give you a higher chance of not getting pregnant would be never having sex. Although we recommend taking your BCP at the same time, an occasional pill at a different time is more likely to cause a little breakthrough bleeding than pregnancy risk.

i have had unprotected sex and wondering if i can take the combined pill microgynon 30 as an emergency contraceptive pill?

Emergency contracept: In theory yes - since they both contain 150micrograms of Levonorgestrel with the microgynon also containing 30 mcg of ethynil estradiol.     However, the side effect profile will be different than Plan B since there is the estradiol component.     In a pinch  you could use the microgynon but I know of no studies showing the efficacy.   You need to use it before 72 hours.   Good luck.

Take the test: If you want to know if you are pregnant, take a test. In today's world you do not need to wonder if you are pregnant or not based on symptoms. Pregnancy tests are available at any pharmacy and in minutes you will have your answer. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.

Drug interaction: This has not been studied.  See your obgyn to figure out a weight loss plan that will not interfere with your pill.

Diet pills: I don't recommend diet pills. I do recommend better nutrition and increased exercise. By increasing fiber in your diet and decreasing fat and simple sugars work wonders, and is better for you. The fiber can curb your appetite.
Diet pills may have severe side effects, plus when you stop them and your behavior has not changed, you will be right back where you started.

Minimally: It is recommended to use extra protection (condoms for example) when on any antibiotics as the effectiveness of the birth control can be minimally effected, but even "minimally" can cause pregnancy in some people.  Best wishes.

No problem: Pau d'Arco is a supplement rather than a drug and shouldn't have any effect on your birth control. Make sure you take your birth control at the same time everyday and don't skip any pills.

Irregular pill bleed: This pill has the same hormone dose in each pill, 30 mcg of the estrogen, so usually this recipe does not have a lot of irregular bleeding if you are taking it regularly for 21 days with a 7 day period week. Except in the first few months, when it is common to have some irregular bleeding. After that if you get new irregular bleeding, you should check for infection, pregnancy, medication problems.

if i am taking alphamox 500mg, will it affect the ava 30 ed contraceptive pill?

Possibly : When using an oral hormone based pill, the penicillin or tetracycline class of antibiotics may change how the contraceptive is absorbed, lowering blood levels and increasing the risk of pregnancy or break through bleeding. Do not stop using the oc, but use a backup form of birth control until the antibiotic course is complete and you're on your next pack.
