No: Hydroxyzine may have some drowsiness effect which you may look out for.

i am allergic to lisinopril and losartan. i'm take amlodipine 10 mg. & hcz 25 mg. but it 's not controlling my blood pressure. still too high. what should i be taking since they said metoprolol wasn't doing me any good. (it worked for 1.5 years.?

: Blood pressure control is truly critical for long-term health, but do NOT get discouraged, as there are numerous choices.  Doses can be adjusted upwards, new medications can be tried.  See your internist, get advice regarding the next steps and work closely until levels are stabilized with appropriate success.  Diligent followup will achieve your goals.

: Losartan is reasonable next one.  Every high blood pressure is different and their own experiment to find best combination of Diet &amp; meds. If you were not recommended to try the DASH Diet eating plan do it now after talking with your Dr. This lowers BP as well a/better than most single BP meds. Take BP at home &amp; ask for tests to find out why BP so difficult. Ask about aldosterone/renin ratio test.

Cozaar (losartan) better for DM: cozaar (losartan) or an ACE inhibitor is better for diabetes. The best drug for diastolic heart  failure is debatable. spironolactone is probably the better diuretic for diastolic heart failure.

: Yes but try to separate them by 1-2 hours so the ExLax does not bind to and interfere with the absorption of the metoprolol and amlodipine (not reported, but not tested - so nobody really knows)

Probably: Not a good idea. Diet pills in general have not been proven to be safe. See your doctor.

See doc in few weeks: Hypertension is a marathon not a sprint.  You are barely off the start line.  BP should be given some time to stabilize and you should collect enough blood pressure measurements at home so that your doc can make decisions based on a statistically valid average.  Your goal BP is going to be around 140/90 or lower depending upon your doc, comorbidity and the recent literature.

Pulse and bp vs bp: In simplest terms...Metoprolol lowers blood pressure and heart rate by counteracting effects of adrenaline. Amlodipine lower bp without affecting heart rate by relaxing smooth muscle in blood vessels and dilating them.

am taking a combination amlodipine 5mg with losartan 100mg.can i take cialis 20 mg? cialis 10mg is not available?

Interaction: Be aware that cialis can potentiate the blood pressure lowering effect of both losartan and amlodipine. Ask your pharmacist if the 20 mg cialis can be cut in half with a pill cutter.
