Medical v. Sugical: A medical abortion is a pill that's an anti-progesterone and causes the placenta of very early pregnancy to fall away from uterus.  A surgical abortion is when the physician uses an instrument and/or suction to remove a pregnancy from the uterus.  In the first trimester, both are very safe.  Sometimes you'll hear doctors refer to any loss of pregnancy, as an abortion, i.e. Spontaneous abortion.

Bleeding: Within a few days of taking the abortion pill you should have some bleeding.  Depending on how far along you are, you may have some cramping or pass some clots that look like tissue.  What looks like tissue is really decidua (the lining of the uterus taht is thick due to pregnancy).  If you don't have bleeding within a week, you need to follow up with your doctor to make sure the medication worked.

Yes,butF/U is recom: Teens can access emergency contraception over the counter as Plan B in some states and at some planned parenthood  clinics. Follow up with a provider is always recommended and encouraged to make sure the medication was effective and that you are still not pregnant.
