what must i expect from drug therapy for menopausal mood disorder?

Which drug?: I frequently use fluoxetine for mood disorders in menopause if HRT therapy itself does not alleviate mood disorders. I rarely have to use mood elevators if hormones are properly balanced during menopause & perimenopause.

Consult doctor: Your lipid values are abnormal and you should consult a doctor for advice on diet, exercise and drug treatment. It is not a do it yourself issue.

i'm 67 long past menopause but i've been experiencing "hot flashes" again. i take 10 mg of prednisone daily and a shot of methotrexate weekly. are these drugs causing flashes?

Possibly: Hormones are a type of steroid. They have similar chemical pathways in which your body can process them.  It is also possible that you are having a side effect similar to a hot flash.

how i can stop night sweats? (i'm too young to be menopausal) i get night sweats almost every night. i think it's a side effect of an antidepressant i take. aside from stopping the drug, is there anything i can do to help with this side effect? thank you.

It : It is very likely that this is a side effect of your current medication and if so then likely the only way it will stop is if you discontinue the medication. I recommend you bring this problem to the attention of the provider prescribing your anti-depressant. If it is deemed likely a side effect, then you can way the risk versus benefits, and if you decide this problem to be unbearable then possibly a new anti-depressant can be initiated. Please note that you should not abruptly stop taking your anti-depressants. You will need the guidance of the prescribing doctor if switching to another medication.
On the other hand you could be dealing with idiopathic hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating, no specific cause)  if this is the case your primary care provider can start you on prescription medications or antiperspirants.

2 years ago, cycle day 2, my fsh was 13.7 and e2 was 21. i didn't respond well to ivf drugs due to dor. i conceived naturally after ivf 2. do my original labs indicate i'll go into menopause early? what's my likelihood of conceiving again? i'm 32 now?

Pregnancy after 32 ?: Pregnancy after 32 may be infrequent , as some age related changes in egg viability interfere with conception.  An "FSH of 13.7" in a normal cycle at age 31/32 may indicate a relatively early pre-menopausal lack of response to normal FSH, and consequently other changes in egg viability.  Obtain a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist for more specific/effective information/treatment.

Anti-estrogen drugs: Anti-estrogen drugs are given to both premenopausal and postmenopausal women whose cancer is estrogen receptor-positive or progesterone receptor-positive.  These cancer may grow when exposed to estrogen. Anti-estrogen medications block or reduce estrogen that is normally produced by the ovaries in premenopausal women or by fat cells, liver, adrenal glands or other organs in postmenopausal women.

Astute question!!: Post menopausal women and women who had their ovaries removed still produce sex steroids in the adrenal glands that are later converted to estrogen. Cancer cells learn how to function with those minute quantities of Estrogens and for that reason we target the estrogen receptor pathway in these women.  Thank you for that good question.

Age of Menopause: The average age of menopause (cessation of menses for one year) is approximately 55 in the U.S.

Some women will experience premature ovarian failure much younger, even in their twenties.

Women who have a partial hysterectomy will often have earlier ovarian failure than they would have otherwise because of the blood supply to the ovaries being affected.

The age is generally the same as her mom.
