how long does it take a premarin (conjugated estrogens) cream to work?  i am menopausal and sex is painful.

Vaginal estrogen: Vaginal Estradiol takes at least a couple of weeks to change weak vaginal tissue back to a heathy resiliant vagina. I personally prefer to prescribe bio-identical Estradiol (some brand names are Estrace vaginal cream or vagifem vaginal tab or Estring (estradiol) vaginal ring) to restore vaginal health.

Yes, lubrication: Women who are post menopausal have a decrease in their estrogen levels which leads to vaginal dryness.  You can see your gynecologist or a urologist and obtain a prescription for estrogen cream or the easiest solution is to use a water-soluble jelly such as k-y jelly.  One of these two options will solve 95% of most women's problems.

More info: 39 is early for menopause. I would need more information to give you a better explanation. BUT, sex drive is not entirely based on hormones.  Having a sex drive is not a bad thing or abnormal. If you think there is more concern, then get with your doctor.
