i'm allergic to metoclopramide, and i currently have some sever stomach pains. i took buscopan a few minutes ago and want to know if i'm at risk of any issues becuase of my allergy? the pain is just under my naval and has intensified over 2 hours.

Severe = see doctor: They are different medication types, but it's hard to guess allergies. Severe pain means see one's doctor or the ER. Pain can be from many things. Stomach acid problems cause pain, as do ulcers, pancreatitis, or gallstones. Appendicitis is always a concern (usually lower abdomen, worsens over time, with fever coming on). Gastrointestinal infections can cause pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever.

Intolerance: Allergic reaction is mediated by an immune reaction. Yours is an intolerance which may be dose-related.  When asked, you probably should just tell people that you are allergic since most of them don't understand what intolerance of a drug is.

However, please read the side effect profile of this medication--it may make you reconsider using it casually, especially if to be taken more than a few doses.  What is your indication for the drug?

Gastroparesis: Small portions, small meals, chew very well. Minimize meats. Minimize crust and chunky food.  Walk after eating. Drink a bit of fluid while eating.  Avoid constipation.  Eat lots of natural fiber.
