: Probably not.

Determination of Lyme Disease is based primarily on clinical symptoms and on physical findings.  Serologic findings are, at best, supportive, NOT diagnostic.  For whatever its worth (not much) these tests suggest a remote episode of Lyme Disease (years or decades ago), not currently active and not needing treatment now

Yes: Western blot is usually more specific than ELISA.  Are you being treated?

Recent infection: Hi. IgM is present only with recent infection. After IgM levels fall away, IgG takes over for ongoing and recurrent exposure to antigen. (The antibodies in this picture are IgG's). I'm glad your doc was on the ball. She/he may have saved you a world of hurt by making the diagnosis promptly. Good luck!

why would my lyme disease western blot test show 4 igg bands as reactive? could this mean i have the disease? none of the igm bands were reactive.

Not necessarily: IgM antibody means recent infection.
IgG antibody usually means remote infection. You may not have the disease, just that you may have been infected at one time.

: The CDC requires 5 out of 10 bands for a positive test. For IgG, 5 of the following ten bands have to be positive: 18, OspC (22-25), 28, 30, 39, 41, 45, 58, 66 and 93. However, if you have other clinical features which are associated with chronic Lyme disease, you may be diagnosed of having the disease with those 2 positive bands.

Predictive value: Tests always have to be evaluated as to their predictive value both + and - . There are findings that are falsely +, and truly +, findings that are truly -, and falsely -. A good doctor will know which are the good results that he can rely upon and the bad ones that he can discard. That is what is known as great clinical judgment. When you find someone with it, stay with him!

: If the CBC differential done by the machine is abnormal, it can be reviewed by either a technologist or a pathologist manually.

Not very accurate!: Lyme testing leaves a lot to be desired. The screening AB via ELISA misses at least HALF of all cases. The Western Blot is a better test and should be done even if the AB test is negative, but most labs do inadequate tests; the best is by IgeneX but even that may miss over 20% of cases!
