Is it infected?: Without physically examining your insect bite, there is only a medical guess as to what is triggering the weeping. Is it infected? This would be the 1st concern--addressing the infection is the only solution here. If the weeping is watery clear, then perhaps this is more of an allergic-type reaction that might respond to oral antihistamines such as allegra (fexofenadine). Call md if infected or not better soon.

Unlikely: There are many ways to try to treat or soothe insect bites, but applying anything warm is not one of them.  With most insect bites, there is a histamine release which causes itching and redness &amp; anything warm will make this worse. Applying a cool compress, an OTC steroid cream (2 times a day) may help with this. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or another antihistamine may help with the itch.

Yes: Biting insects like mosquitoes and gnats usually cause swelling, redness and itching at the site of bite. However, stinging insects like  honey bees, yellow jackets/hornets and wasps can cause life threatening generalized allergic emergencies.
