Lumps on back.: A common cause of lumps on the back is Sebaceous cysts, caused by the blockage of the sebaceous glands in the skin. If they are inflamed they would be painful and red. If your lumps are deeper than the skin, there might be other causes for your problem and I would advise that you should see your doctor.

Most likely lipomas: Lipomas are varying sized fatty benign tumors that are under the skin & mobile as well as being painless.  They are pretty common. These lumps could also be cysts.  If they are not painful & not growing in size, you can discuss them with your doctor at your next appointment or go earlier if they are enlarging or painful.  There are a list of other possibilities but they rank lower down on the list.

PCP not ED: Your primary care provider may help and send you to the appropriate specialist depending on the exam (neurologist, psychologist, rheumatologist, infectious disease specialist, psychiatrist, neurosurgeon). This needs a thorough clinical evaluation. Trip to the hospital er will unlikely get you closer to a diagnosis.

Varies: There are a number of possibilities, some quite normal but i would encourage you to be checked if you have any concern.  One example of a relatively normal condition like what you are describing involves the si joints.  These joints are near the bottom of you spine on each side.  They normally do have a small bursa over each of them and I have had patients come to be checked, but they are normal.
