i've recently found 4 hard lumps on the base of the back part of my skull. they seem to of moved from the top of my neck. anything to be worried about?

Unlikely: ca usually does not cause pain.

But better check with your doc to be safe.

Ok: Could be a cyst. If it is painless i would follow up with the doctor to see what the best imaging test is indicated. If it's just a cyst  you may not need any testing this observation.

Seek evaluation.: Any neck soreness from a "lump" needs an evaluation.  The timing of the evaluation is based on the speed at which the symptoms are developing.  If the symptoms are new and progressing  over a day or two, or if there is a fever or stiffness in the neck, please seek care asap. If the progression is slower, you can consider a primary care provider or pharmacy based nurse practitioner evaluation.

Yes: There are lymph nodes at the back of the skull in what is called the occipital chain.  They can enalrged with colds and infections of the scalp.

what is a lump about 3/4" around on the back of neck, base of skull?  your guess cancer or a cyst? 76-year old male

Possibilities: It is possible to have a swollen lymph node in this region (called occipital nodes).  It could also be a cyst such as an epidermal or sebaceous cyst.  Another option is a (usually) benign fatty tumor called a lipoma. If it is getting larger or is tender/painful, or associated with other similar lumps, i would get it checked out by your doctor.

Lump in the  Head: Most lumps can be answered by Biopsy. is it an abscess or a  Lymphnode or a abnormal growth (tumor) hard to say without seeing and feeling it. Is it hard? Is it an infection. Please see your doctor to answer all those questions SOON.

NO: A disc would not be movable on the back of your neck. It is probably a lesion or cyst like structure of some kind.  Have a dr. Check it out for a definitive diagnosis.  God luck to you.
