Bad guestion.: My thoughts, many need to have flu shots to avoid the flu or minimize its symptoms. On back pain everyone will experience back pain in their lifetime.

Please see Dr.: There are a number of possible reasons for his symptoms, and the only way to find the cause is to see his Dr. for evaluation.  And if he's been vomiting for 3 days, I'd advise seeing the Dr. tomorrow.

Back pain,coughing: Flu A causes fever, cough, which can cause back pain. Parvovirus can lower red blood count. If not better check blood and urine.

Fall: A fall can cause pain from a variety of sources, and mostly depends on how/where the landing occurred.  It could simply be muscle strain, but could also be due to disc problems or even a spinal fracture.  Further evaluation is warranted due to the traumatic nature of the injury.

See details: Rest heat, aleve (naproxen) and advil. Pain results from trying to lift too much weight or having poor form while lifting.

Low back pain: Occasionally, a  pop can be heard that is benign, mostly coming from the small facet joints. Another pop can be from a disc herniation, or an annular tear, the outside of the disc.... That can lead to back pain, and occasionally some buttock or leg pain. Avoid strenuous exercise and lifting, take anti-inflammatories, and do lots of walking. A cold pack after 20 minutes by some heat may help a lot too. Immobilization is typically bad.
