With low: Amount of bleeding i wouldn't worry too much.  You might check an ovulation predictor kit to see if your bleeding is a result of ovulation but it's generally heavy bleeding that is worrisome.  If there is any chance of pregnancy then get a pregnancy test.  Good luck.

Need more info: Menstrual periods do not always arrive every 28 days. They may vary from 2-3 days each month. It is important to have a routine GYN exam and a general physical to rule out any other medical problem like a thyroid disorder to make sure that your cycle is normal for you.

Get tested...: Get pregnancy test first and foremost. Second, if this is negative get checked for any possible infection you may be afflicted with. If both possibilities are ruled out then it could be that you skipped ovulation or a hormonal imbalance might be going on. Follow up with your GYN provider on this.

No: It is likely that your month long period(s)are causing your low iron. Your period(s) are abnormal. There are many reasons for this, and is affected by age, number of babies, hormonal imbalance tumors in the uterus just to name a few. I would recommend yousee your gynecologist.

See a gynecologist: This isn't normal. They will likely do a workup to make sure everything is OK. They may discuss treatment such as a birth control pill to regulate your cycles assuming everything else is OK.

Bleeding: A haemoglobin level of 7 combined with active bleeding is worrisome.  Get her to a hospital right away to be evaluated.  The cause of the bleeding needs to be figured out and the bleeding brought under control.  She may also need to be transfused.

Better choice: Or, you can take pure estrogen pills. The dosage is lower than a low dose pill and probably less side effects.

Irregular bleed: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections ;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.
