what effects can losing a kidney have on the body-can it cause fatigue, or affect the immune system?

Single kidney: Loss of one kidney should have no effect on bodily functions. You can live a normal life with one kidney. The one exception would be of you had faling kidneys. In that situation every bit of healthy kidney tissue is needed to maintain kidney functions, so loss of an entire kidney could have a significant consequence. Fatigue and even immune dysfunction could occur with more severe kidney failure.

Could be ...: The negative rheumatoid factor does not completely exclude rheumatoid arthritis but given the tests and symptoms you mention, it could be lupus erythematosus. You need to see a rheumatologist. Joint pain at your age is not "normal" and the liver and kidney abnormalities could be related.

Chronic fatige: This is unlikely.  Chronic fatigue has a whole lot of possibilities.  Most peolpe do well with only one kidney ie kidney donors.  Certailnly if your remaining kidney is failing and not working correctly this can cause fatigue with often swelling, sob and lab abnormalities.  See your doctor.

No: The most common cause of kidney stones in women is not drinking enough water. When the urine is concentrated, crystals, which can become stones, form more easily than when the urine is dilute from a higher intake of water.

my 19yr old (4yrs ago paraplegic) lost all function in right kidney with no reason as to why.... should i be worried of the tiredness she is feeling?

Kidney failure: She most certainly should be evaluated by a urologist as to why she has a non functioning kidney.

i have been getting headaches, tiredness, extremely sleepy for 1-2weeks.  i took prilosec for 2yrs and again recently. can this cause kidney diease?

See your doctor.: It Is not likely that the symptoms you are experiencing are due to Prilosec, or even kidney disease at all. There are many things that can cause kind of symptoms that you are describing. You need a general evaluation, including a physical exam and possibly laboratory tests to sort it out. Kidney: Depends on how poorly the kidney function is. It can lead to anemia and sometimes low platelet count. Sounds like you have more going on and should continue seeing your doctor.

will having kidney stones cause me even greater issues because i also have multiple sclerosis? i'm in pain and extra fatigued.

Hopefully not: Pain related to kidney stones needs 2B treated appropriately. as does MS. Small stones hopefully pass on their own with hydration + possibly tamsulosin to help dilate ureter to facilitate passage. Obstruction from stones needs to be relieved. Stones need to removed if they are associated with urinary tract infections as infected fragments form nidus for further infections &amp; stone enlargement.

i was supposed to have my gal bladder removed but got scared cause they wanted to look at my liver because it was enlarged as well as my spleen it all scared me. now my kidneys r in severe pain and i sleep all the time also extreme fatigue. what's up?

Symptoms kidney : At age of 18 if your kidney functions are 335 nprmal you have other issues to worry about as to what is the cause of it and if the causal disease is causing the symptoms .As such reduced renal function down to 33 5 does not usually create too many symptoms but as they reduce further you may see these appear kidney function is just one measure you should be seeing a good nephrologist if this is you.
