Allergy definition: A true allergic reaction to Ativan or any medication (or food) involves either the development of hives or rash and/or difficulty breathing, throat constricting. Such reactions need to be treated with Benadryl or, in severe cases, epinephrine. Often people say they have an allergy when it's really an adverse reaction or intolerance. For Ativan, that might be dizziness or sedation or agitation

Very rare: Allergic reactions to Ativan (lorazepam) and other benzodiazapines are quite rare.  Hives or other skin eruptions sometimes occur, but seldom and may related to fillers in the tablet/capsule rather than to the medication itself.  Side effects, especially at higher doses are more common and included drowsiness, slowed thinking, slurred speech--think effects of alcohol.

In my opinion?: My honest opinion is that sedatives are far too overprescribed in headache patients by primary intention and as a result people are led to believe that this type of medication is a TREATMENT for a headache when it really isn't.

No problem: You are wise to be concerned about mixing alcohol with lorazepam (Ativan) or other anti-anxiety, sleeping, or sedative drugs. However, it takes a lot of alcohol and/or especially large doses of lorazepam and related drugs (benzodiazepines) to cause serious problems. Two beers, even only a couple hours earlier, would be safe; and by 8 hours, alcohol is pretty much gone from your system.

Do not do it!!!: Both drugs are central nervous system depressants of particular concern being the respiratory center . They have similar effect like alcohol. They interfere with balance , clear thinking  and depending on the dose , with level of consciousness and may result in death due to depression of breathing center or impairment of protection of the airway . Fall  and head injury , accident  and many others....
