Calcified lesion?: The description and quick evolution of this lesion suggests a benign calcified skin appendage tumor or cyst, such as "pilomatricoma".  See a dermatologist to have the lesion removed and examined by a pathologist.

Get it checked : Out asap. It is less likely to be a bone tumor but more likely related to lymph node, which could be as significant as a lymphoma. Although this is a less typical location. Get it eval by your PCP and you may also need an excision biopsy.

Abnormal: This bony mass needs to be evaluated by an ent. Anything that has increased in size needs to be checked and anything that is asymmetric, or only on one side, needs to be checked.

The best way to rule out a malignancy/cancer is to see a dermatologist. He/she will do an exam and determine whether or not a biopsy is recommended. Since you are very anxious, it is best to schedule an appointment.
