A fair amount: The percentage it is not known, since this finding is subjective, and depending how difficult the colonoscopy was. Percentage is probably around 5% of colonoscopies.

Not directly: Redundant colon can cause bacterial overgrowth in rare cases that can lead to colitis.  One is a structural problem, the other is a mucosal problem, of the colon.

Diet and fluids: I rarely prescribe meds for ibs. In my experience teaching people to eat and drink properly resolves most if not all symptoms when the patient is compliant and follows through. Hi fiber, 80-100 ounces non caffeine, non alcoholic beverages each day, regular meal times, excercise. Consistency is the key to being symptom free.

Anywhere: Redundant colon can be anywhere.  Usually you have about 6 feet of colon.  Redundant colon is just more than 6 feet, like 7 or 8 feet.  Most common I have seen has been transverse colon, then descending colon.

Volvulus is...: ...Colon obstruction brought about by twisting of the colon.  While having "redundant colon" may be a common factor in people who develop volvulus, we never recommend surgery for this condition unless they have had a documented episode of obstruction.  Stated another way, many people have redundant colon (esp in the elderly and/or chronic constipation) but few develop volvulus.

Yes: Fiber is healthy for general health and is helpful with colon function (i.e. Constipation). However, as with all good things there is another aspect. One side effect of a high fiber diet is enlargement and elongation of the colon.  This can result in side effects like colon malrotation or torsion.
Please know a low fiber diet leads to diverticula formation and the increased risk of  diverticulitis.

if i have temp ileostomy for severe spastic redundant colon, will the spastic loopy part still cause pain and nausea even if nothing is going through ?

It can: Yes, it can, but so can a blockage of the colon.  I assume that has already been ruled out?
