Plan B: Anyone having intercourse without birth control or condoms may get pregnant. If intercourse was within 72 hours you consider taking plan b. Ella (ulipristal acetate) is another brand that can be used up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse. Plan b is a high dose of birth control to disrupt the hormonal patterns to delay or prevent ovulation. Abnormal bleeding after is common. Check  preg test in 10 days.

The IUD: actually "works" by "irritating" the lining of the womb so that a fertilized egg cannot "take" (implant) This "irritation" may in some folks cause a longer or heavier menstrual bleed.

? Alkaptonuria: Alkaptonuria could be the cause and is a genetic disorder so need to see a physician to diagnosis if this is a possibility.Overtime can cause problems with joints if this is the cause and not treated.

Follow up: You need followup with a neurologist in order to have recommendations for prevention of your migraines. This is something that ER’ s do not do, but it is likely they recommended it many times.

: During the first-year menses can be irregular in frequency and flow. Egg release is inconsistent, and that function creates part of the hormonal balance of regularity. I would let her know this should normalize over time, manage as needed and get her on a daily iron containing vitamin. When she goes in for her next checkup discuss it with her doc or do so sooner if you wish.

Probably not: Aging causes skin to thin and wounds to heal a little slower.  If you are at risk for diabetes then I would have that checked.

Many options: Consider starting a different birth control such as an IUD or Implant. They have less side effects and are easier to use. Consider discussing possible post partum depression with your doctor. It is very common and there are medications that can help.
