for many years had pea size lipoma just above my tail bone. i have aged and the skin has changed.  i noticed that i cannot feel the lipoma in that area.  did it dissolve with age?

Cellular atrophy: It has not dissolved, but the lipoma cells may atrophy and become imperceptibly small.  Probably not to worry!

Tail bone pain: Avoid any further trauma by sitting on a hardsurface.Use an inflatable ring when sitting on hardsurfaces.Taking warm seatbaths will help with pelvic organs congestion, avoid constipation, take otc medications.When pain is intense local infiltration of the area will. Help, olso manipulation of the sacroccoxygeal joint may be of benefict. Dr seni.

Depends: Can't say which one is the best. It is different in patients. Nonsurgical: physical therapy, manipulation, myofascial release techniques, medication, using donut-shaped pillow to sit, if not responding, then nerve block and injections or surgery to remove the coccyx if needed. Check with your doctor.

Could be: It could be a bad bruise or even a fracture of the coccyx. One other thing to look out for is a compression fracture.

Fracture coccyx: You could see a primary care and  get x-ray or the area or MRI, and they could treat conservatively with ice NSAIDS, donut pillow,. or could go to orthopedist who would treat similarly or if severe may inject  with steroid or in the rare event could perform surgery for unremitting pain .

Back/Sacrum Pain: The back is made up of 5 vertebra and their adjacent discs.  The lowest disc is connected to the sacrum, and the coccyx (tailbone) is connected to the sacrum.  Sacral pain can develop from one of many of these contiguous structures.  It is possible that your pain is coming from a disc, the bone, the spinal joints (facets), sacroiliac joint, ligaments, tendons, or muscles. See your doc to find out.

Most unlikely, as: You have had that since birth, and didn't cause any problems. Usually they are found by accident on xrays done for something.

Get an X ray: Since you have injured or fallen few times and its hurting you  i suggest you get an x-rays  at least. Start to take aleve (naproxen) twice a day. Most common is soft tissue damage at your age 18, but you may have other underlying pathology which needs to be resolved or ruled out. If you ignore yourself at this age you may pay the price later.

Very low back pain: May have a pilonidal cyst which may need drainage.  Go see your PCP to have this checked.  The drainage may be uncomfortable, but after it is done, you should feel better.
