Recurring, painful cysts can be intrusive with respect to our busy lifestyles as you alluded to.  You might consider a contraceptive method for the  ovarian suppression that it offers.  The pill and other hormonal methods prevent ovulation and therefore prevent cyst formation.

Torsion?: Yes, the biggest concern is that your ovary can twist/torse/bleed/rupture all of  which can be serious. You need to see your dr right away or go to the er if this is the worse pain you have ever had!

You should be disc: Discussing this with your gyn doc, depends on what kind of cysts you have, you may need to get on continuous bc pills to prevent the cysts, if you have endometriosis you may need depo- Lupron (leuprolide) or further surgery so without knowing more details cannot provide other advice so you should make an appt with your gyn or go for a 2nd opinion, but if u go for a 2nd opinion make sure u bring your records.

Get tested: Most ovarian cysts are a result of ovulation, and over time will disappear. Some are indicators of problems with ovulation, and some are associated with problems that need more intensive treatment, like endometriosis.

Best to talk with a specialist in fertility problems to decide on treatment. An obstetrician gynecologist is a good place to start. An rei offers specialized care.

No: A ruptured cyst resolves in a week or less typically. If months have passed the ruptured cyst will have completely resolved and not cause any issue

On rare occasion the cyst can rupture and bleed into your abdomen which occasionally requires surgery. This happens the day of rupture.
