Lactogenesis: Milk production occurs during two stages during pregnancy. Stage I happens during the second haft of pregnancy and produce small amount of milk. Stage II happens after delivery marked by onset of copious milk production. Some women may have milk secretion during stage I. No need to squeeze it out. Hope it will help. Thanks and take care.

Breast leakage is: not uncommon during pregnancy, especially the last trimester, but it IS uncommon this long after an early 2nd trimester D &amp; C.  It strongly suggests an inappropriately high level of the hormone Prolactin.  Please follow up with your Gyno so s/he can check your prolactin level and whatever else is indicated. Yes: Your breasts just like your uterus is getting ready to the upcoming birth. It's nothing unusual to leak some of the fluid out of them before the delivery.

Probably hormones: You didn't mention if your ovaries were removed with the hysterectomy or if you were placed on hormone replacement therapy..These along with age related changes can affect hormone balance in your body. A hormone called prolactin can cause milk discharge, and changes in estrogen can create breast tenderness. Get a breast examination and hormone panel blood test at your doctor to evaluate properly.

Generally yes: It is common for colostrum and milk to leak during pregnancy. It can come on its own or be stimulated by sex play for example. If you find you are starting to have uterine contractions with increasing pain and frequency (which can happen because of Pitocin (oxytocin) from your brain causing milk letdown) check with your doctor. Any masses or lumps or bloody or other color discharge should be checked out!

Variety of reasons: Any prolonged stimulation of the breasts or ongoing nursing will promote ongoing lactation. However this should stop, and if it persists you may want to seek evaluation for possible prolactin producing tumors.

Yes: It is possible for a woman to produce breast milk in the absence of pregnancy. This can be caused by stimulation of the nipples, certain medications, or medical conditions which raise the hormone level of prolactin. If you are producing breast milk and are not pregnant, it is important you see a doctor to determine what is causing your lactation.
