May be a temporary: hormonal imbalance. The blood is brown because there is old blood / tissue being cleaned from the uterus.

Anovulation: Yu've experienced a missed cycle.  These are most commonly due to anovulation.  This occurs when the ovary fails to release an egg. This alters hormonal levels which disrupts the cycle.

Not normal: Consistent pain with sex, and consistent bleeding with sex are not normal. Don't worry, but you'll want to be checked by a doctor if this persists.

No: Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.

RECHECK FEW DAYS: What you did not let us know is if you had unprotected sex. If so then you need to recheck the pregnancy test. Now the pregnancy tests are very accurate when positive. You can potential get a false negative.

Irregular bleeding: If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections &amp;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  there are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

If : If there is a chance you could be pregnant take a pregnancy test. If it is negative, or there is no chance and if the bleeding persists beyond 14 days or so, you should see your doctor. Your doctor can give you a pill called Provera (medroxyprogesterone) to stop thr bleeding. Also a more detailed history and evaluation may be done to determine a cause versus monitoring.

: If preg. tests are negative you should not be pregnant. I would suggest a birth control method of your choice if you want to avoid pregnancy
