Yes, esp. if...: Most cases of gastritis are caused by H. pylori. This is usually treated with antibiotics (though herbs like Mastic Gum can work as well). Probiotics are important for both helping to eliminate H. Pylori &amp; for re-establishing healthy flora. Probiotics can be beneficial for people of any age as healthy flora is essential for good health. See

Yes: Lactose intolerance means you don't have  the enzymes to breakdown lactose- this means your intestinal bacteria will do it for you, resulting in gas, bloating and diarrhea. There  is no contra-indication to consuming probiotics...just don't think it will actually allow you to consume lactose containing products. You will end up with the same symptoms of lactose intolerance.

do probiotics help process lactose? i noticed that the weeks i drank yogurt with probiotics i was able to tolerate products with lactose i wouldn't normally be able to consume without taking lactaid pills.

No problem: They are not related problem. In fact, probiotic and prebiotic supplements are being studied for their role in reducing allergic diseases. Thus far, eczema (atopic dermatitis) appears to be the condition responding to these supplements, but researches are still underway.

The Align: Probiotics are commonly recommended to restore/maintain healthy gut flora.  I am not so sure this will help directly with lactose intolerance.

Probably: Probiotic usually contains no dairy. The amount of lactose is usually much lower in yogurt such as kefir but I have found that the more liquidy yogurt may not be tolerated by some lactose-intolerant people and thus you will have to find out yourself as to which brand or type of yogurt you can tolerate. Another approach would be taking lactase tab prior to consuming dairy.

: No problem.  Some prenatal vitamins even contain probiotics.  Your pharmacist can validate this advice. Yes, you can take them together.

Enzyme=yes: Lactose intolerance is usually because the person does not make the enzyme needed to digest lactose. Germs in the gut then use it for food &amp; trigger gas/acidic stools. Probiotics do not change that. There are over the counter pills that contain the enzyme &amp; taking them can help. Products under names like lactaid would be what I would use. Probiotics won't hurt, but I doubt they could help.

why do i get a stomach ache when i eat greek yogurt? does that mean i have lactose intolerance?  can it be because of the live culture and probiotics

It's possible: Call your discuss to discuss this.  Or eliminate all dairies &see what happens but remember that you will need something to substitute it so you get enough calcium.
