I do not thing so?: Not to have medial collateral ligament of the knee from congenital reason, I do not find case in the liteleture. To have torn mcl it is very possible, and you could function with it but this effect the knee and cause arthritis early beside other problems.

Mcl tear: Grade 1 and some grade 2 tears may heal with conservative treatment.Like brace, rest, over the couter or prescription pain meds such as ibuprifen, Naproxen and physical therapy.Rarely you need arthroscopic surgery.

MCL: Little to no pain, and the ability to return to your full level of desired activity with no issue. Clinicians will be able to tell if the laxity in your mcl has decreased, meaning it has healed. Good luck and hope this helps!

Depends: What is the degree of tear and is there associated ligament injury such as acl or pcl?  It is common to sprain the mcl of the knee. You want to be sure there is no other ligament or meniscal damage associated with this. Make sure you properly rehabbed your knee and this is the best way to avoid repeat injuries. A brace during activity may also help. More sever degrees of injury may require surgery.

You dont: An mcl injury is a stretch injury.  Meaning you get micro tears of the fibers with a minor injury grade 1-2. You get larger tearing of the fibers in a grade 3 or complete tear.  You want the fibers heal or"scar" in and the ligament to tighten up in the healing process. You don't want a lax or loose ligament. During the healing process you may  lose flexion  motion so stretch to get flexion back.

MCL pop may be menis: It may be the medial meniscus (cartilage) that is popping and that may be serious enough to be checked by an orthopedist.

C an ortho guy: B cn & have x-rays & xam to 2 c 2 what degree it is torn. Also 2 c if further immaging is nec. 2 eval inside the knee. Most need bracing patience & agressive rehab. If bone has been pulled from the femur, surg may b needed. Or a scope if there is internal damage. Rx depends on ur ortho's protocol. Good luck!

Spur or meniscus: Popping on the medial side of your knee most likely represents the ligament riding over a prominence of the bone (bone spur-?Early arthritis) or from a tear of the medial meniscus. Another possible cause is a small loose body in the joint.

Tear muscle hit dash: Mcl tear happens when your knee is hit directly on its outer side with a force, or by repeated stress.It will be really hard to tear mcl by hitting the dashboard, but if you try hard enough you probabely can.

I: If patient has valves knees, explains why the MCL is thicker. Strong lower extremities muscles and avoiding obesity will prevent injuries to this ligament
