No: You have symptoms which could be serious and should see your physician.  He/she will listen to you, do a physical examinarion, run some tests, and let you know what's going on.

what are symptoms of dehydration if you have the stomach flu?

Dry mouth/lips...: Depending on the age of the person, there ae different things you can monitor for dehydration.  You should urinate minimum of once every 12 hours - less often my indicate dehydration.  Lips and mouth dryness, no tears for kids.  More severe dehydration skin feels different, soft spot on baby may look sunk in, heart rate may be increased.Pay attention to thirst -it also tells you to get more fluid!

Urine infection: You should consider urinary tract infection as a possibility (pyelonephritis). Urinalysis could be very useful.

May need a doctor: A person gets dehydrated usually from vomiting and/or diarrhea, especially if she is drinking incorrect drinks or amounts. Tiredness and thirst are early signs. Mouth then gets sticky (instead of wet), eyes look a bit sunken, urine is little and darker, hands and feet get colder, skin color doesn't look so good, skin feels dough-like, etc...  Small sips of Pedialyte every 20-30 minutes helps.

Yes: Musculoskeletal pain can occur with the flu.  A stomach illness is also possible if you are vomiting a lot.

You will need : To hydrate and make sure you have adequate sugar control. Things can spiral downward pretty quickly when you have diabetes with a superimposed infection. Make sure you are in communication with your doctor.

Steps to take: If you  have mucus in your stools.Referral for colonoscopy /sigmoidoscopy if you have rectal bleeding, night time abdominal pain, weight loss, anemia.If you have  mucus +diarrhea-stool cultures to rule out GI infection.Lactose intolerance shd be considered to modify diet, need also to rule out celiac , ibs (inflammatory bowel disease), usually with yellow mucus.Be sure to see your doctor.

i got the stomach flu including chillsthe night i received iv contrast for a ct scan. i also have hypothyroidism. could this have caused any problems?

Side effects: Side effects of IV contrast may include flushing, a feeling or warmth, and effects on the function of the kidneys.

Symptoms of chills and stomach flu were probably not related to the contrast.

Yes: If you can't keep anything down for 2 days, especially if you have diarrhea, fever, vomiting, sweats, you may have significant dehydration.  
Urine dark? Concentrated? Lightheaded?
If you can't even keep down ice chips, may need er or urgent care center for hydration (iv fluids).
Call your doc, or go to er.

Yes: Iv fluids are indicated if signs of dehydration develop to prevent kidney from shutting down.
