Pollen allergy: Juniper allergy result from IgE mediated reaction to the tree pollen. Symptoms include runny nose, itchy watery eyes, sneezing. Diagnosis is made by skin test for blood test.

Yes: If you know you are juniper sensitive, you can be desensitized using allergen immunotherapy (allergy shots). For many people, this results in a permanent loss or reduction of sensitivity. Medications and avoidance also work, but symptoms will return after the medication is stopped.

YES: Allergies happen when your bodies immune system become "sensitized" to something "x" and develop antibodies to it.  Over time your child has multiple exposures to x (years 1-4) and became sensitized.  We are rarely if ever allergic to anything when born; but develop them over time (and exposure).  So it would be quite normal to "suddenly" become allergic at age 5 even if they had it many previous.

Possible: Yes, it is possible to have allergy to lettuce, but it is one of the more rare food allergies.  Typical symptoms would be mouth itching or soreness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, hives, itching or rarely in more severe cases trouble breathing, drop in blood pressure (shock), or death.  You only need one or two of these symptoms to suspect an allergy.

Skin and GI: Milk allergy usually begins in infancy. Most children have rashes (eczema or hives) and GI symptoms (pain and diarrhea). Less common are nasal and chest symptoms.  Chronic constipation in infants and children is rarely due to true milk allergy.  In young children the initial manifestation of milk allergy can be anaphylaxis, a severe systemic reaction.

It depends: If you have the usual respiratory allergies (allergic rhinitiis, i.E hay fever, or asthma) then it is not. But if you have chronic urticaria (recurrent hives), you may have igg antibody against your mast cell receptors, thus this would be a form of autoimmune condition.

Itch: It could be one of many things....Reaction to illness, medications, foods, clothing, detergents, etc....Best is to use a non-sedating antihistamine once to twice daily.
