Not unusual: Intercourse can provide enough trauma to the pee hole that you end up with irritation/frequent urge to pee or sometimes a urinary tract infection. Many suggest you get up and empty your bladder after sex to "clean the pipe" &amp; try to avoid this problem. If it doesn't pass in a day or so you need to check for a UTI.

May be infection but: Generally, one can make a calendar and write down her symptoms, including the times she has to go pee, day or night. She can then take the calendar after 3-4 days to talk with a doctor (or Student Health). A doctor can help figure out where the problem is coming from, such as the bladder, the kidney, the mind, etc...  If no problems when asleep, look up pollakiuria (usually stress-related).

The diagnosis of kidney stones is made on the basis of information obtained from the history, physical examination, urinalysis, and radiographic studies. Ultrasound examination and blood tests may also aid in the diagnosis.

A urinary tract infection (sometimes called uti) is an infection that begins in the urinary system. While any part of the urinary system can become infected, most infections involve the bladder. Women are at greater risk of developing a UTI than are men. A UTI limited to your bladder can be painful and annoying. However, serious consequences can occur if a urinary tract infection spreads to your kidneys and can lead to a situation called pyelonephritis.  Antibiotics are usually prescribed after a urine culture is taken.
