i have noticed that my hair on my head is slowly falling out, and my facial hair and arm hair hasnt grown in weeks. head is also quite itchy and was told dermatitis. under extreme stress before this, what is causing this?

Dermatologist: A dermatologist can tell by examining you whether your hair loss is apt to be temporary or permanent. At the same time appropriate tests will be ordered to look for medical problems which cause hair loss, such as thyroid disorders. The scalp dermatitis will also be evaluated and treated.

how do i take care of head skin inflammation/irritation? it does not look like dandruff and very itchy. when i scratch, thick dandrufflike white paches fall off. my hair is falling off. pliz help. its been about a month

See your doc: If you hair is actually breaking off, that may be a sign of a fungal infection.  You should be evaluated in person for testing and treatment.  Hope this helps!

Hair loss: By far the most common cause of hair loss in men is androgenetic alopecia, also referred to as “male pattern” or “common” baldness. It is caused by the effects of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (dht) on genetically susceptible scalp hair follicles. Other causes include medications, systemic disease as in lupus and thyroid disease.

Hair loss: You may have a fungus of the scalp  but you could have idiopathic alopecia. You have to be seen by your doctor to determine your problem. We can only speculate what you might have  because we cant see the actual problem

Could be....: Any one of a number of things.  Most likely given the minimal history might be seborrheic dermatitis. generally treated with topical antifungals such as ketoconazole or a mild topical steroid.

Fungal: Sounds like fungal and/ or yeast infestations.  The facial component is called seborrhea.  A topical anti-fungal like Nystatin cream might be useful. Try a selenium based shampoo wash around the genital region in the shower.  Selenium is anti-dandruff, which is thought to have a fungal ("microsporum furfur") relationship.

i have dark discoloration on face. has gotten worse over years. mainly on cheeks and over eyebrows. not raised or itchy. what can i do?

Consultation advised: One possibility is melasma. This is a hyperpigmentation usually on the cheeks and forehead. The exact cause is unknown but it increases with sunlight exposure. Alopecia: There is a condition called alopecia which causes the hair to fall out.  This is different from male pattern baldness which is genetic and not a disorder.  A dermatologist can tell you if you have alopecia (an autoimmune disorder) and treat it w/medication.  Peace and good health.
