See PCP,CHECK EAR: You may have adverse effect of drug but you need to see your primary to evaluate your itchying particularly in your ear and might need to see your ear with otoscope to evaluate for possible ear inflammation due to common cold you have.

Canker or cold sores: Cold sores are caused by HSV (virus) and occur on the outsides of the lips.

Canker sores are on the inside and are more due to stress and not caused by a virus.

Treatment depends on which you are dealing with.

Itchy ears: It would probably be best to find out why you have so much itching and address that problem. Most likely, you have an allergy that manifests as itching in your ears. If that's the cause, an antihistamine such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Zyrtec (or others) should help. 
If not, see an ENT doctor to make sure there's nothing there of greater concern. 
And you are right..don't use q-tips in your ears.
