Upper respiratory infection: saline nasal wash, salt water gargle, lots of fluids and rest, acetaminophen for fever / pains, unless allergic to it,  if not better in a day or so, or new symptoms or getting worse see your doctor, good luck

i have been experiencing dizziness - like vertigo for the past 3 days. i also presented with a mild cough (itchy chest) 2 days ago. i feel tired and generally under the weather. i did travel recently (by plane) on 17th december to jhb.

Get tested Covid19: It is important that exactly people like you get tested, so that we can learn of people with just minor "cold symptoms " like yours may actually have a mild case of Covid19.  It also let's you know whether you need to keep a full quarantine.  It may be just a cold, but combine the fact you could have been  exposed  when flying with mild symptoms-that equals get tested! Get plenty of rest, fluids.

Scarlet fever ?: Sandpapery texture suggests scarlet fever - which is strep throat with a rash.  But the cough and chest congestion make a viral rash more likely.  Scarlet fever usually goes with a red sore throat and red lips and tongue, headache, stomach ache and fever.  It's diagnosed with a throat culture.  Otherwise, if it's a viral rash, there is not so much you can do.

i've been sick for 2 weeks now. my cough finally went from phlegmy to dry, but my chest feels itchy as i keep coughing. is this normal?

Possibly: It's difficult to say  as dry cough could mean you are getting better. If there is no fever, shortness of breath, chest pain you can wait but perhaps a check up with your doctor is indicated ?

Eye Itch: The combination of cough and eye itching may signal some sort of allergic response.  Go to your primary doctor to be checked for asthma and seasonal or chronic allergies.  Itchy eyes are often a symptom of allergic conjunctivitis which may be treated with Pataday or zaditor, (ketotifen) or of blepharitis, an inflammation of the eyelids and lashes, which is treated with lid scrubs, compresses, and antibiotic.

Asthma can present as a recurrent cough and asthma is frequently associated with allergies.  An evaluation could include lung function testing, allergy testing and possibly sinus ct scan.

Doctor can re-check: After starting antibiotics, things should be better each day after the first 2 days. Otherwise, the doctor can re-check to see if a different antibiotic or a longer course of antibiotics is needed. Sometimes asthma meds such as inhalers and anti-inflammatories like singulair (montelukast) or Prednisone are also needed. If doing well, a mild residual cough can be around for a couple of weeks, improving daily.
