Tests are excellent: If done properly they are very good.  Your HCG levels should be at least 20, 000. The tests can detect HCG levels about 1000 times less than that.

Blood Pregnancy Test: It really should be effective at the time a period is missed (and possibly prior to that).

How to get pregnant: If your period is 'far away' why would you be worried that you are pregnant. If you had sex early in your cycle when you were not fertile then you did not get pregnant. It is thought that any testing before you  have missed a period is a waste of money because it would be too soon to test.

Reliable: If the test is done correctly and is done 7-10 days past the missed period, the results are reliable. If a correctly done test was negative at 8 week after sex, you are not pregnant.

Accurate by 3 weeks: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, STD's, or medications. A correctly done urine test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner than 2-3 weeks after sex, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon.

Gee,: most males would have a large pain if they grab their testicles hard.

Intercourse can cause minor trauma to the testicles which resolves in a few days. IF there were several ejaculations from whatever source over a brief period of time this too can irritate the area.
