: It is not one of the side effects mentioned on the pharmacy website. It is better to get liver and kidney lab checked though.

What's your problem?: I am not sure what is to be treated. Do you have malaria that you took lonart? If you do, then your symptoms may very well be within the malaria symptom range and having taken one dose of lonart may not be enough to treat those. Keep on taking for as long as the doc prescribed and hopefully this is the right drug to work on malaria if that's what you're having.

i am an african and aa blood type.i have just treated malaria with my usual lonart ds drug three days ago and suprisingly the aches and pain symptoms still persist.my body also itch in a manner akin to the days of chloroquine drugs.what could be wrong?

Several possibities: You may be reacting to side-effects of the medication, the parasite may be resistant to the medication you are receiving, you may have an illness either along with or in place of the diagnosis of malaria.  See your doctor.

i am a breast feeding mother and i took a tablet of lonart anti malaria drug, will it affect my 5months old baby?

Possibly: Lonart is contraindicated with breastfeeding.  In fact due to its long half life it is recommended that breastfeeding not resume until a week after finished taking the medication.

Side effects ..: ...would not be expected to be any different or any worse if you actually don't have the condition for which the medication was prescribed, i.e. malaria. Lonart-DS can cause headache, dizziness and loss of appetite, though mild in most cases. For some it impacts sleep, causes tremor or ear ringing. If you truly don't have malaria, stop taking it:)  Good wishes.

Not recommended : Most malaria treatments and preventive regimens do not recommend use while breastfeeding.  Depending on length of needed and age of baby you could "pump and dump"  to ensure milk productiion continues until treatment is done. A full discussion with health care provided is needed to get the best and safest regimen.

hello doc, my husband is on lonart at the moment and septrin was also mistakenly prescribed for him to treat malaria and typhoid. he has being itchin?

Stop the septrin: Lonart too can cause itching, but if he has been on it for some time and the dose is already reduced, then better stay on its course, septrin does seem to be the problem here,  itching here is a blessing rather: lonart and septrin aren't a good combination and may cause problems with heart rythm. Other treatments for typhoid are available as amoxicillin or ceftriaxone, according to the case,
